CREATE Foundation is the national body representing children and young people who are in, or have been in, out-of-home care through fostering, kinship, or residential care. Create provides a voice to these young people via a range of free programs, workshops, and events and ensures that their voices and experiences are heard. They also provide an amazing network where children who have been in out-of-home care can meet new people who have been through a similar experience, and so play an essential part in the development of confidence and sharing of experience.
The CREATE Foundation team initially reached out to Leticia in 2021 thanks to a personal connection as Leticia was previously a CREATE Foundation Young Consultant advocating for system change for children and young people in foster care. They understood that creating a branded Cultural Illustration package would be a passion project for Leticia because of her lived experience of being in out-of-home care.
The personal and professional connection between CREATE and Leticia (through both Leticia Anne Designs and Yirra Miya) was strengthened after this initial project and Leticia has been very proud to work on two further projects in 2023 and 2025.

Leticia’s passion for this project stems from personal experience and she was featured in CREATE’s Voices in Action: Journeys in Care Podcast which gives a platform to children and young people with a care experience to talk about a range of issues that are important to them.
